The university trained Yoboku in health care based on faith education and has sent about 570 nurses and 219 clinical laboratory technicians to work at medical facilities across Japan. Nakata asked the graduates to become nurses and clinical laboratory technicians who pay close attention to patients’ states of mind, which are at the roots of suffering, and reach out to patients with love and care, assuring them that they are in good hands.

Rev. Nakata then mentioned that the university would restart as Tenri University’s Faculty of Medicine. Noting that their mission as Yoboku in health care would not change, he stated, “I hope that you will add to the legacy of the school’s history and achievements.”
